The Annual Fund represents the shared commitment of Oakdale families, faculty, and friends to help bring the Oakdale experience to students through our promise to serve. The Annual Fund helps close the considerable gap between actual cost of offering this ministry and what the student can pay. Tuition and fees do not cover the total cost of educating each student, providing housing and meals for them, and all the evening and weekend activities and programming that are important for student development; therefore, we ask our donor friends for annual donations to bridge this gap. Funds raised through The Annual Fund also make it possible for Oakdale Christian Academy to maintain small class size, which is central to fulfilling our mission. Please remember that no gift is too small.
Unrestricted gifts provide Oakdale Christian Academy with the flexibility to address the school’s most pressing demands as they change over time, but donors also have the option of restricting their gifts to particular needs in which they have a special interest. Major gifts are often coordinated with Oakdale’s strategic plan and can offer naming opportunities to the donors. Recent major gifts provided funds for the Beacon Center and are currently being used for a new girls’ dormitory and expansion of our boys’ dormitory. Contact our advancement office for a current list of naming opportunities.
Special initiatives represents the commitment of Oakdale friends to provide for extra off-budget needs. In 2012 these funds are being used for a bank of laptop computers for classroom use, materials and labor for roofing needs, materials to rehab entrances to Anderson Hall, athletic program needs and supplemental scholarships. Special initiatives vary throughout the year and are typically communicated via weekly/monthly e-mails. Contact our office to be added to our e-mail newsletter list.
Planned giving allows you to support Oakdale Christian Academy in the future while not affecting your finances today, and enables you to help sustain the promise of an Oakdale education for many years to come. There are several ways that you can contribute, including stock sales, wills, bequests, charitable gift annuities, and life insurance. The Advancement Office would be happy to discuss planned giving with you if you decide that this approach is one that you might like to pursue. Oakdale works in partnership with GuideStream Financial and the Free Methodist Foundation to offer these services. Contact our office with any questions.
Memorial gifts are contributions made by surviving spouses, relatives, friends, associates, or classmates of deceased members of the Oakdale community. In addition to honoring the memory of an individual, these gifts also perpetuate his or her known interest in Oakdale. We will acknowledge the gift and notify the spouse or designee that a gift has been given.
Alumni and parents may want to make gifts in honor of a particular faculty member, classmate, or person who has played a special role in their lives or in the lives of their children. The honoree will be notified by the school that a gift has been received in his or her name and will be given the name and the address of the donor.
Capital and Endowment Giving
Certain gifts made to Oakdale Christian Academy help preserve and enhance the school community, whether in support of identified facilities needs or other physical space priorities, or in support of our faculty and student body. These gifts for capital and endowment purposes ensure the long-term strength of Oakdale Christian Academy.
Please contact our Director of Advancement, Will Mosier-Peterson, if you have questions about giving. Thank you for considering a gift to make the Oakdale ministry available for our students!
