The advantages of an Oakdale Christian Academy
is unique among boarding schools. Students and family members are immediately struck by our incredible student to staff ratio of 2:1. This translates into individual attention, discipleship, academic support, lasting relationships and a life changing experience.
At Oakdale, all staff and their families live on campus, creating a campus family for our students. We eat meals together, worship together, learn together and play together. Imagine eating dinner with your biology teacher, playing basketball with your pastor, or practicing for worship team with the president. This is Oakdale!
The daily life at Oakdale is a busy one! Weekdays are filled with an invigorating academic day (8:00 – 4:00), an after-school job training program and a family-like dinner. Evenings find students in dorm study halls, meeting with teachers, visiting with friends or participating in the many extracurricular opportunities available to promote learning, faith development, personal interests, hobbies and athletics.
Weekends, too, are structured, but more relaxed. Students can sleep in on Saturday morning before brunch and then jump into the day’s activities. There is time for fun with friends and social interaction, as well as an opportunity for more practical pursuits such as dorm cleaning.
Sundays are our campus day of rest. We worship together in the morning, enjoy a delicious noon meal together and then enjoy some well deserved rest and relaxation. Some find this curled up on their bed with a good book, others on the basketball court with some friends or on the phone catching up with friends and family at home.

Oakdale was founded over 80 years ago because of a desire to introduce young people to a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. That remains our driving commitment today. Every staff member at Oakdale has a vibrant testimony and comes to Oakdale to share their lives with teenagers from around the world. Our goal is that our faith would permeate everything we do at Oakdale. Yes, we have Bible classes, chapel services, church on Sunday and small groups, but we strive to model a faith which is part of all of life. We work to incorporate God’s truth, as revealed in the Bible, into everything we do.
We pray that our students will see their entire lives – whether it’s church, basket ball, or taking out the trash – as something that glorifies God. We are also committed to teaching students to lead by serving. We offer regular opportunities for students to serve including nursing home visitation, food pantry ministry, puppet team and ministry team as well as events such as 30 Hour Famine.
with Christ’s love.”
When parents choose Oakdale Christian Academy for their son or daughter, they are getting much more than a top notch education. As a college preparatory Christian boarding school, Oakdale challenges our students far beyond the realm of the classroom. Our mission is to lead students to lives of learning, service to others and loving God.
The student life program oversees all that takes places in the dorms as well as provides a wide offering of evening and weekend activities for students.
The primary goals of each component of our program are:
1) To provide an opportunity where students can grow spiritually and embrace the love of Christ
2) To support the academic program of the school and teach students to love learning
3) To ensure a safe place for the social, emotional and civic growth of students
At Oakdale, students thrive! Our small, nurturing environment provides a place of safety for each student – from the most shy to the most confident. Students’ strengths, easily overlooked in other environments, develop, and their struggles, perhaps unseen in a larger context, can be addressed.
Whether a student needs a place to shine, or a place to heal, Oakdale can be that place.
Athletics at Oakdale
Oakdale Christian Academy’s athletic program is built with the realization that sports can play a vital role in the development of character. Though academics take precedence, we field teams for boys and girls. Oakdale Christian Academy is a member of the Kentucky Christian Schools Athletic Association (KCSAA). The Wildcats face fierce competition as we compete against other programs for the state title in basketball and volleyball. Our soccer team plays at a high level whether it is facing schools or clubs. With such competitive levels it may be difficult to remember the reason for our program. Sports alone, should not be the reason a student enrolls here.
In addition to the tough interscholastic competition, Oakdale Christian Academy allows for competitive juices to flow during various intramural sports. Intramural athletics include basketball, indoor and outdoor soccer, floor hockey, volleyball, softball, ultimate frisbee, and flag football. These activities are offered throughout the week to students who are academically eligible.
Make sure you describe your athletic interests when you apply.
