On weekday evenings students participate in a wide range of scheduled activities, including intramural athletics, Bible studies, small groups, worship team, peer leader meeting, nursing home visitation, and service-learning opportunities (such as volunteering at the local food pantry). Students who are academically eligible are permitted to participate in these activities. After a week of intense study, Friday evenings are a time of connecting with friends and staff for some good old fashioned fun! Students enjoy planned social activities such as athletic events, movies, games and karaoke. Often these activities involve the entire student body, but are sometimes scheduled for dorms individually. Each Saturday evening, the Oakdale staff host an all campus social. These events are designed to engage students in a well supervised, structured and enjoyable activity. Our goal is to teach the value of Christian fellowship. Saturday socials form many of the traditions experienced while attending Oakdale. Some of the many traditional Saturday socials include staff open house, staff talent night, student talent night, staff vs. student games, Homecoming, international dinner, and the Valentine’s Banquet.
